Storyline:
Stay Put uses pictures instead of words to set the scene. Iris is motionless on her bed, gazing up at nothing that foreshadows what lies ahead. A man is sleeping three feet away from her, facing away, to symbolise the gap between them. Iris flips over, losing her view of the sky, and gazes solemnly at the plastic boat resting on the nightstand. Iris stealthily escapes with the boat and a pocket knife, leaving the man and her phone behind. Then she brings the knife to a remote state park and cuts letters into a tree with it.
